What is the Student Assistance Scheme?
The Student Assistance Scheme provides assistance for low-income families towards the cost of levies. STAS is provided through school and college resourcing rather than payment direct to families.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible the parent/guardian must have a current:
- Services Australia Centrelink Health Care Card,
- Services Australia Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card,
- Services Australia Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, or
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pension Concession Card.
Grandparents raising children are eligible to apply for and receive STAS. STAS closes to new applications in the first week of September 2024.
What will I need to provide?
- The completed application form, signed and dated.
- A copy of your Centrelink Health Care Card, or
- A copy of your Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, or
- A copy of your DVA Pension Card.
If approved for STAS, you will receive a letter of confirmation from DECYP – please forward a copy to the school in order to stop your levies invoices.
