Huonville High School's School Association saw out 2023 with our final meeting on the 7th December, celebrating many successes and partnerships with community sponsors, as we strive to enhance our educational community. As we gathered around our new outdoor seating in the quad, we were joined by the seating sponsors: Tassal, Bendigo Community Bank, the Lions Club of Huonville, and Duggans, with only Huon Valley Council missing from the group. Janelle Reeves regaled us in her recounting of the incredible value the new seating has added to our school learning environment and the ongoing benefit it is having on our students. The significant contributions are providing opportunities for our students today and into the coming years and we are incredibly grateful to all our sponsors. We look forward to continuing the work of improving our school community and our broader community together.
The School Association's Annual General Meeting kicked off with changes in roles, and members stepping down as their children move on to Grade 11. Our new chairperson, Rachel O’Toole is already eager to hit the ground running in 2024 to take on existing tasks and adopt feedback from staff and parents on how to craft the education at Huonville High School.
Eloise Foo steps sideways into the role of Treasurer, left vacant by the wonderful Shyamali Perera, who was instrumental in the consolidation of finances from different institutions.
Tracey Ozkilinc, one of our many amazing educators, steps into the role of Secretary, filled by Bobby-Jack Bowen Butchart since 2021. Bobby-Jack will remain as a staff member to support the transition and the community into 2024.
